The Liverpool Times has made comment on the BT and LDL Scandal.
The problem with this is,
IT IS STILL GOING ON!!!
See below for Liverpool Times article
The multi- million pound contract between Liverpool City Council and BT is under fresh scrutiny following criticism from Councils Auditors.
This lucrative contract gave BT a monopoly interest in vast areas of the Council’s services. One Stop Shops, Libraries, and Registrar services to name but a few.
BT - Cosy deals for Liverpools politicians, cosy deals for BT
The awarding of the contact was dressed up as giving the honest Council taxpayers a better and cheaper service. In reality it has helped to make BT worth £23.2billion pounds, and paved the way for an impending big payout for it’s shareholders.
Until new labour seized power, publicly owned assets could not make a private profit while they were still being sustained by the taxpayer. In this case the hard pressed Liverpool Council taxpayers pay for the services through their monthly Council tax payments, ( like those mentioned above) that BT deliver on behalf of the Council. Someone who has done rather nicely out of the City Council contract is the ubiquitous “Dr” David Mc Elhinney.
When he was the Council’s deputy Chief Executive he masterminded the deal between the City Council and BT.
He had closed a similar deal whilst working for the far right Knowsley Council.
Shortly after the Liverpool deal was tied up “Macca” took a pay off from the City Council and walked straight into a top job with BT ! Based in Sir Thomas Street.(AND PUT IN A NICE NEW £15,000 SHOWER FOR HIMSELF AND SOME BLONDE BIT ED)
All this may be totally above board. In local government however things are not that simple. Council’s have huge assets whose primary objectives are to benefit the people. Have any Council taxpayers been given shares by BT ? Is the Pope an atheist!
What “Macca” has pulled off is a clear example of the type of spiv society new labour has created. Ironically when the Tories sold Council house’s labour screamed opposition from the rooftops, even though millions of their own voters gained from the sale. Similarly with the sale of the public utilities, ordinary people were allowed to purchase shares at favourable prices. In the mid 1990s many ordinary people gained financial windfalls when Building Societies converted to Banks.
Under new labour only the privileged few make the money. As the Liverpool Council taxpayers will not benefit from the BP payout, they should be told if “Macca“and Henshaw have held any share holdings in BT or any of its Subsidiaries, in the period leading up to awarding of the contract, or during any period of time since ?
Cllr Joe Anderson and his new labour group should take note, what has gone on has never been official labour party policy ! Go on, take on the “new labour Lib Dem’s”
